I am employed as a Senior Systems Administrator for a government agency. Our organization is responsible for supporting approximately 30,000 users and around 3,000 servers. Our server environment is about 50 percent virutualized and runs on a mix of Dell rack mount servers and Cisco UCS B-Series blades. My primary focus is with data center virtualization and management/design of our VMware vSphere and Cisco UCS implementation. In addition to virtualization I am also heavily involved in automation and do some work with Active Directory, mainly creating scripts or utilities to automate routine tasks.
Outside of work, I am also involved as a co-leader of the Indianapolis VMware Users Group (indyvmug.com). This is a great group of local systems architects, engineers and administrators who meet up monthly to discuss virtualization issues, problems, solutions and products. I strongly encourage anyone to join their local users group for the in-real-life networking opportunities.
I’ve created this blog to write about things I find interesting…typically virtualization and automation related. If you have any questions, suggestions or ideas, please feel free to let me know. You can email me at blog [@] enterpriseadmins.org.
Thanks,
